INTEGRATE & INFOCOMM SIGN DEAL

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Alchemedia Events and InfoComm International are pleased to announce an exclusive co-operative agreement between the two organisations for the Integrate Show. From 2011 onwards the event will be known as ‘Integrate Expo in association with InfoComm International’.

InfoComm International® is the leading trade association representing the commercial audiovisual industry. InfoComm provides industry education, creates industry standards and offers the Certified Technology Specialist program – the only audiovisual certification accredited under the International Standard ISO/IEC 17024.

Louise Brooks, Integrate Event Director is understandably delighted: “InfoComm International’s name is synonymous with excellence and raising standards in the AV community around the world and it is an honour to be so closely associated. InfoComm International chooses its partners very carefully and there’s no doubt Integrate and its supporters will benefit from this exclusive relationship as we plug into the considerable expertise and connections of such a formidable international association. For our part, the Integrate team will continue to work tirelessly to raise the standards and the expectations of an event such as ours in this region.”

Jonathan Seller, InfoComm Regional Director, Australia & NZ, adds: “The feedback we had from our Australian members after the first Integrate in 2009 was that, finally, we had a local show that was the right fit for our industry. The event drew a mix of attendees from the whole supply chain, from manufacturer through to technology manager, and there was a substantial education offering. Part of the latter was a one-day, seven-seminar InfoComm Academy education day titled ‘Future Trends in AV Technologies’, which sold out to 110 delegates. For 2010 we will be increasing our education offering to all three days of the show, with workshops on digital signage and videoconferencing among the highlights.

“We are therefore delighted to have formalised our relationship with Alchemedia Events and are looking forward to working with them to develop and grow Integrate in the years to come.”

Peter Swanson, CTS, Chair of InfoComm’s Asia Pacific Council, adds: “Integrate has been doing a great job of providing a central focus for our industry and the news of the co-operative agreement with InfoComm is another exciting step on the journey. To me, it’s a logical step following the mutual support the two organisations have provided each other with to date, and I believe it will help to make the annual show an even more valuable experience for our local market.”

Integrate identified the synergies in the professional sound, light and vision industries and brought these sectors together with great support from the AV systems integration community and live events sector. Following a successful launch in 2009, Integrate set a new benchmark for events of this kind in Australia.

Anticipation is building for the upcoming Integrate event in August 2010, taking place from the 24th – 26th at the Hordern Pavilion and Royal Hall of Industries, Sydney.

BRUCE JACKSON TO HEADLINE INTEGRATE 2010

Australian audio royalty, Bruce Jackson, will headline Integrate 2010.

Fresh from his role as Audio Director of the Vancouver Winter Olympics and currently working as Audio Director of the World Expo Opening Ceremony, Bruce Jackson has his finger on the pulse of the audiovisual state of the art.

Bruce Jackson is currently Dolby’s Sound Platform Director but his CV reads like an audio engineer’s fantasy. Some 40 years ago he started a little PA hire company called Jands (Jackson and Storey), before selling his stake to try his luck in The States. Not only did Bruce ‘try his luck’, he became Elvis’s right hand ‘sound guy’ before spending a number of years doing the sound for the Boss, Bruce Springsteen.

But Bruce’s interest in sound always extended further than mixing front of house – the foldaway mixing console he designed for Clair Bros still provokes knowing nods of appreciation. So 30-odd years ago, when Fairlight came out with the outlandishly cutting edge (and expensive) CMI sampler, Bruce immediately championed its cause in the US… bunny hopping a system around the country to cashed-up would-be customers in the back of his airplane. Bruce then launched Apogee Digital in response to the ‘crappy’ converters he was hearing strapped to the digital multitrack tape recorders at the time. In his ‘downtime’ he was mixing Barbra Streisand. In the mid ’90s Bruce demonstrated his uncanny ability to introduce the ‘incredibly smart’ to the ‘eminently practical’, bringing the worlds of Lake, Clair Bros and eventually Dolby together, and in the process creating some of the most sought after audio processors in the world today.

Bruce has donned his Audio Director hat with real regularity in the last 10 years. The Opening Ceremony of the Sydney Olympics set new standards in audio production… which is probably why Bruce has been invited to design the audio for a whole cavalcade of high-profile events ever since.

Integrate is absolutely delighted that Bruce has taken on the event’s Headline role, his ability to pull together talented individuals and push the technological envelope are legendary. “My friend George Massenburg is a hard act to follow from last year’s integrate, but I’ll do my best!” declared an ever-modest Bruce Jackson. “I look forward to presenting at this year’s event and exciting people with what we’ve been able to recently achieve with the application of the latest leading edge audio tools.”

New Year, New Developments

The new year has well and truly rolled over and it’s high time to update everyone about the exciting developments leading up to integrate 2010.

2010 is shaping up to be a strong year, with most of the industry having extricated itself from the doom and gloom of the GFC. Leaner and meaner, the feedback we’ve been getting has been very positive – the industry can’t wait for integrate 2010.

And who can blame them?! integrate is the standout show on the 2010 calendar and promises more of what everyone loved about the 09 launch.

We’ll follow up with detailed press releases about some of the big initiatives we’ve cooked up, but we’ll use this newsletter as a taster…

AV AWARDS ARE GO

If you’ve been reading the industry bible, AV magazine, you’ll be aware that the pro audiovisual industry has got right behind these AV Awards. Properly adjudicated by an industry panel formed by associations InfoComm, AETM and ALIA, these awards will recognise the innovation and excellence. An Awards ceremony will be staged at integrate 2010.

RECORDING / MIXING FAVOURITES ARE BACK

integrate favourites Mike Stavrou and Greg Simmons have confirmed their return in 2010. Stav’s mix of intuitive, left-of-field recording and mixing techniques along with some ‘what the?’ magic routines delighted a packed house last year and will be sure to do the same in 2010. Meanwhile Simmo’s day-long Studio Fundamentals classes proved to be very popular, so we’re delighted that Greg will be returning for another dose of ‘ah-ha’ moments.

PRODUCTION UP IN LIGHTS

‘Meet the LDs’ has been a hugely popular panel discussion organised by the Australasian Lighting Industry Association ( ALIA) for many years and integrate2010 is determined to give it the venue it deserves: The Headroom – a 200-capacity hi-tech learning/ seminar space. Australia punches well above its weight in lighting design and direction, and we’re lucky to have some world-class pro’s in town for the duration of the show, ‘Meet the LDs’ will be a top-draw attraction for lighting professionals across the nation.

ONE DAY CONFERENCES

Recognising the thirst for more training and details on key hot-button topics in the AV sector, integrate has responded with the announcement of a number of one-day conferences. Already confirmed is a Video Conferencing conference (yes, a conference on conferencing) and a Digital Signage conference. We know there’s a lot of anticipation about these programs and seats will be limited, so we promise to rush through a formal outline as soon as we can.

SUPER TUESDAY IS BACK

InfoComm International Super Tuesday program of ‘Future Trends’ will return, serving up a smorgasbord of ‘wow’ moments from industry heavy hitters. Super Tuesday isn’t a day of hardcore training, but it’s sure to inspire and inform. Indispensable.

Fast-paced, entertaining (Mikes magic tricks are legendary) and inspirational, the Stav Session in 2010 is once again guaranteed to ‘turn your ears up’.

ALIA Involved Again

The Australian audiovisual Industry has expressed it’s enthusiastic backing for these awards and they are sure to provide a genuine showcase of innovation and excellence.

House of Worship

The House of Worship half-day session of 2009 was another big hit, which led integrate to confirm its reappearance in 2010. For those who missed out in 09, it’s the perfect chance for church techs to hear from some of the world’s best proponents of audio, lighting and AV in this sector. integrate 2010 will make more time for Q&A to ensure your curly conundrums are answered.
